FORMALISING THE INTERNSHIPS
Contracts / collaboration agreements for formalising internships:
Undergraduate and Master´s Degree:
The internships are regulated according to royal decree 592/2014 of 11 July for external academic internships, where it specifies that internships are formalised through an educational cooperation agreement, which is provided by the university department.
Advanced training cycles: dual vocational internship modality
In the Basque Country there is a specific contract that regulates this kind of internship, form 421, which is a labour contract for training and learning.
Additionally, it can be formalised through a grant managed by the university department and that is also provided by the Basque government.
Insurance
Obligatory insurance coverage for accidents is guaranteed in Spanish territory.
Total cost of the internship:
- Social security registration
- There is funding provided directly to the student by the company that is, usually, subject to 2% income tax withholdings.

- Curricular and extracurricular internships: RLCE 9939 | cost €9,939/month
Student Funding
- Recommended: minimum wage (€8.26 gross/hour - €8.09 net/hour)
- Minimum: €6.43 gross/hour - €6.30 net/hour
- The legal minimum for the dual vocational internship is the minimum wage.
