Learning based on real-life projects for engineering in ecotechnology in industrial processes

From the get-go, you will learn to work and you learn how your future professional environment works. Starting in the second year, you will face cases with which you will acquire the necessary technical knowledge in real-life environments.

During the course, you will be faced with different challenges. In the second year, for example, you will create a sustainable bicycle. You will have to replace several components of the bicycle with others made of materials with a lower impact on the environment, such as bamboo. To do this, you must check if the new bamboo pieces meet the requirements of the current ones and define the new manufacturing processes that allow obtaining the desired curvatures in the new material. Finally, the knowledge of electricity obtained in the semester will allow you to design and develop a new regenerative braking system, which extends the life of polluting batteries.

In the second year, you will be asked to define the distribution of a production plant and its internal logistics. You will define and size the warehouses, production processes, and the internal management of the products. You will be asked to respond to the challenge whilst considering environmental, safety and people management criteria.

In the third year, you must assess the market in order to give a new functionality to a product, such as a skate that also serves as a snowboard. You will have the freedom to decide the aesthetics of your product, choose the most suitable materials for its manufacture, and make your own model. You will calculate if your design is capable of supporting its weight and possible impacts during its service life. All this will consider the emissions that can be generated throughout the lifecycle of the product.

During the third year, you will also face challenges such as the design and manufacture of your surfboard. If you wish to make products that are more environmentally friendly, you must know their materials and the processes that shape them very well so that you can choose the ideal one! To know if your design is suitable, you must be able to manufacture and test it.

You will also learn to recycle materials. Thus, you will contribute to reducing the amount of plastic that floods our oceans, both in your environment and in collaboration with organisations that reach distant communities.

Thus, thanks to the PBL (project-based learning) model, throughout the 4 years, you will develop the necessary skills to practice your profession, as well as acquiring the ability to solve problems and manage responsibility. Additionally, you will learn to work in multidisciplinary groups and know how companies work from the inside.

One example is the project carried out in collaboration with the NGO Ndank Ndank in Bergara. The challenge was to design and manufacture a press to reuse plastics in Dionewar for new products for everyday use.

Advantages of project-based learning

Be responsible for your learning

You will be able to investigate, analyse and synthesise information to continue learning.

100% real projects

You will develop real-life projects that will allow you to know the reality of your future profession.

Project manager

You will have the support of professionals who will help you in solving the challenge or problem.

We get results

In addition to receiving extensive knowledge, you will know how to apply it to real life.
