Objectives and competencies
"You will develop innovative and sustainable products that add value to those who use them"
The main objective of this degree is for you to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to create and develop innovative products that are useful, effective and attractive for the people who are going to use them.
Working in this area of industrial design consists of shaping the products that surround us by facilitating everyday life for people. You must be able to work in a team, in interdisciplinary environments, collaborating with mechanics, electronics experts, computer scientists, marketing people, suppliers… to be able to design consumer products, computer equipment, household appliances, presses, trains… in a creative, innovative and environmentally friendly way.
Therefore, you must master different aspects of product design, being able to identify the needs that users may have, turning them into real, industrially manufacturable products. Thus, starting with users' needs, you will be able to apply your knowledge of product development to plan their design, production and subsequent marketing. To do this, during the four years you will work on aspects related to product design.
Comprehension skills
Understanding and applying the principle of physics, chemistry, mathematics and electronic systems to the field of biology and medicine.
Innovative attitude
You will know how to analyse, design and develop new medical equipment, including healthcare, medical and hospital materials.
Hospital expertise
You will know and understand how the installations operate, and the requirements of hospitals and medical healthcare processes.
Work in changing environments
You will respond effectively to any situation you may have to face. We will also prepare you for an internationalised labour market.
Interdisciplinary teams
You will know how to work with people from other backgrounds, both in the medical and engineering fields.
Problem-solving ability
You will have the ability to make decisions, look for solutions and resolve challenges quickly and effectively.
Autonomy at work
You will be able to manage and perform tasks on your own, as well as learn by yourself, through self-teaching.
Continuous learning
You will possess the skills required to continue studying throughout your whole life, developing your training and professional career.
Ultimately, you will be capable of analysing and offering creative, innovative and technological solutions to the greatest health challenges of the 21st century.
The learning outcomes achieved in this degree are in line with Level 2 of the MECES (Spanish Framework of Higher Education Qualifications).
Students who meet the requirements set out in Decree 47/2012 of 3 April on ‘‘Recognition of official studies carried out in the Basque Country and exemption from accreditation with degrees and linguistic certificates in the Basque language’,you will be able to obtain exemption from accreditation of the level equivalent to C1 (EGA).
