PLASTITECH Project: development of an Integral Circular Solution oriented to digitalization
PLASTITECH, as an industrial research project
PLASTITECH, as an industrial research project, will address the challenge of researching the development of an Integral Circular Solution for 360º traceability and revaluation of pre- and post-industrial plastic waste in a systemic way, favoring its reintroduction in the plastics industry for the generation of new circular products.
The process of traceability and revalorization of plastic waste involves the development of a multitude of tasks and operations. At present, these processes are hardly digitized and if they are, they are not accessible to customers, collaborating companies and public entities. The lack of transparency and traceability of the information linked to these processes along the value chain makes it impossible to determine the quality of the revalued waste, as well as its level of circularity. In order to overcome these limitations, the PLASTITECH project faces the challenge of researching the development of an innovative Integral Circular Solution oriented to the digitalization of the following processes:
- 360º traceability of the processes involved in the collection, recycling and revaluation of pre- and post-industrial plastic waste.
- New generation of technical composites revalued and certified by NORM UNE-EN 15343:2008, for their reintroduction in the plastic industry of the Basque Country.
- Methodology for calculating the plastic environmental footprint in the organizations participating in the project.
As a collaborative innovation project, PLASTITECH will integrate a representation of agents of the plastic value chain of the Basque Country, which will allow the generation of a new circular industrial ecosystem between the companies that generate pre- and post-industrial plastic waste and the companies that manufacture circular products and, therefore, demand the new revalued technical composites. Thus, the PLASTITECH consortium is made up of the following entities:
ACLIMA, Spanish Plastics Center (CEP), KAYTEK DIGITAL BUSINESS, BIRZIPLASTIC, PLASTICOS CLOSSA S.L., EMAUS GIPUZKOA, MIK and GAIKER FOUNDATION.
As a result of the execution of the PLASTITECH project, the following technological developments and new products are expected to be obtained:
- TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT: PLASTITECH Platform: 360º traceability of the processes involved in the collection, recycling and recovery of pre- and post-industrial plastic waste.
- NEW PRODUCT: PLASTITECH REVALORIZED COMPOSITES. New generation of revalorized technical composites certified by UNEEN 15343:2008, a certification that Birziplastic already has.
