19-year-old entrepreneur, has been recognized in the EdTech category of this prestigious European competition, now in its fifth edition
Pau Pavón, founder of Examfy and entrepreneur/student of LEINN (Official Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation) of Mondragon Unibertsitatea in the laboratory that the entrepreneurship network Mondragon Team Academy has in Barcelona (promoted by its partner TeamLabs), has been awarded in the EdTech category -to the best education startup- of the prestigious European competition Wise 20 Under 20, which recognizes the most promising entrepreneurs between 16 and 19 years old from all over Europe.
Pau Pavón, a 19-year-old entrepreneur, is developing a technology that uses optical character recognition and artificial intelligence to help teachers correct exams. Once each exam has been scanned with the cell phone, Examfy analyzes and sorts them by name and grade, and allows them to publish notes or share them with students or their parents. The project has its germ in the mandatory quarantine established during the pandemic, when, according to its creator, "the lack of technological development in the education sector was evident". Faced with this situation, they began development to provide solutions to a real need.
At the moment, the project is in the validation phase and they are in contact with schools in Catalonia, Madrid and Castilla y León, with the aim of carrying out the first tests at the end of this school year and launching a pilot test for the beginning of the school year in September. In addition, they are actively looking for innovative centers that want to join these tests to perfect the technology.
Mondragon Unibertsitatea has become a benchmark in the area of entrepreneurship and this recognition confirms it. One of its hallmarks in entrepreneurial education is the Official Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN), whose methodology is based on learning by creating real companies in teams while traveling the world. Currently, after 13 years since the LEINN degree began, Mondragon Unibertsitatea has an international community of more than 3,000 entrepreneurs, with more than 120 companies created in LEINN teams and laboratories in Irun, Oñati, Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Berlin (Germany), Puebla (Mexico), Seoul (South Korea) and Shanghai (China).
