The NEBER project, Negozio eredu berdeak ebaluatzeko metodoa, has been funded by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa through the Program to promote sustainable and just ecological transition in the business fabric and the socio-economic ecosystem in Gipuzkoa of the 2023 call. Reference: EZAGUTZA-14/2023

The main objective of the NEBER project has been to develop a structured decision-making method to guide companies in the prioritisation of circular business models based on circularity and triple sustainability criteria and indicators. In this way, it aims to help organisations, especially SMEs and start-ups, to make a predictive assessment of the circular and sustainable possibilities of the business model, based on empirical data, which will help to reduce uncertainty and make better decisions before investing large resources in innovation processes in circular business models.

The project has generated knowledge on green and circular business models and the evaluation of their impact, based on qualitative and quantitative indicators of circularity and triple sustainability. It has succeeded in generating greater knowledge in the development of decision-making methods, anticipation and empirical evaluation of circularity and triple sustainability business models for a sustainable and just ecological transition.

The results obtained in the project have been the following:

  1. Increase knowledge of green and circular business models and assess their impact based on qualitative and quantitative indicators of circularity and triple sustainability.
  2. To increase the science and knowledge on the development of decision-making methods for the development of green and circular business models and to assess their impact based on qualitative and quantitative indicators of circularity and triple bottom line sustainability.
  3. Develop a multi-criteria decision-making method to compare and prioritize green and circular business models for start-ups, small businesses and the diversification of the business models of established companies.
  4. Disseminate the knowledge generated and raise awareness among companies and stakeholders on business model innovation for green and just transition by participating in conferences, with stakeholders, with social media.
  5. Strengthen the Knowledge Triangle and University-Business-Institutions dynamics to foster and integrate research and transfer knowledge and tools related to business models for energy transition.
