WORKING TOGETHER

More and more companies, schools and social agents are participating in actions carried out within the framework of the Mondragon Stem Hub network

The MONDRAGON STEM HUB network is the result of joint work carried out by Mondragon University and the MONDRAGON Corporation with the aim of promoting vocations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics among young people, and especially among women. The main objective of the project is the development of STEM skills among young people, and actions are already underway to achieve this goal.

Since the launch of the MONDRAGON STEM HUB, many actions have been carried out in collaboration with social agents, educational centers and companies. Among these, the following are particularly noteworthy:

  • The organization of Science Week, during which a passion for STEM activities (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is promoted through the testimonies of Basque scientists.
  • Through conference offerings, STEM talks and events are organized in educational centers, at the university or online. Aimed at junior high and high school students.
  • A series of practical workshops related to science and technology, aimed at students in junior high and early high school.
  • Activities carried out within the framework of the International Day of the Bicycle with the aim of working on bicycle-related skills that young people will need.
  • The organization of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, aimed at girls and women from an early age, thinking particularly of junior high and high school students, in order to bring them into the scientific field in a natural way so that all society provides the same opportunities for true academic and professional development in the scientific and technological fields. For example, a photo contest, a calendar, etc.
  • The coordination of actions carried out in collaboration between schools and companies, such as the student visit to the Ekide company of 47 juniors and seniors from Arrasate High School, the student visit to the Danobat Group of 26 freshmen from the Aranzadi School of Bergara, and robotics and automation workshops offered at the Higher Polytechnic School of Mondragon.
  • A comic aimed at children with the goal of having young people understand and internalize STEM skills.
  • In addition to Ekide and the Danobat Group, the MONDRAGON STEM HUB network currently consists of companies and social agents such as the Fagor Group, the Ulma Group, Ikerlan, Dikar, the Garaia Technology Park, Polmetasa and Ekin Emakumeak.

Moving forward, actions to promote STEM areas will continue to be carried out, seeking a natural approach of children and young people to some areas. Thus, we want to appeal to schools and companies to be part of this network and to support this initiative.

The MONDRAGON STEM HUB is an initiative promoted by two faculties of Mondragon University (the Higher Polytechnic School and the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences), together with the MONDRAGON Corporation.
