The project aims to propose solutions for the improvement of the current electrical system with the creation of new tools for the design and control of hybrid distribution networks.
On 1 July, Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa convened all members of the consortium to a follow-up meeting at the Ingeteam facilities in the Biscay technology park in Zamudio, Spain. In this meeting, the progress achieved so far was presented and evaluated, and the action plan for the coming months was defined.
In total, the meeting was attended by 14 representatives of the consortium organisations composed of Ingeteam, Ikerlan, Tecnalia, DeustoTech and Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa. The project began in early 2018 with the aim of proposing solutions for the improvement of current electrical systems with the creation of new tools for the design and control of hybrid AC/DC distribution networks.
Road2DC Project
Road2DC is a project funded by the Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure of the Basque Government and is led by Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa. The proposed research lines are perfectly aligned with the research and innovation strategies for smart specialisation developed by the Basque Government, also known as RIS3. Within the framework of the RIS3, three strategic priorities of specialisation have been highlighted: advanced manufacturing, energy, and biosciences/health.
The specialisation of energy includes the development of energy generation, transport and distribution systems and power electronics for the improvement of energy quality and the transition towards a sustainable energy model. Thus, the modernisation of the electrical network through the development of hybrid AC/DC networks, a goal pursued by the Road2DC project, directly focuses on this area.
