Aitor Lizeaga and Ramón López, researchers at the Polytechnic School of Mondragon University, participated in the 8th General Assembly of the SEABAT project and, subsequently, in the final event of the project. The researchers who have participated in the process met to show the achievements and innovations of the project. The project aims to develop a hybrid battery system for fully electric ships, based on the combination of high-energy and high-power batteries together with modular converters.

Specifically, both events took place on November 12 and 13 at the emblematic Port House in Antwerp, Belgium. On the 13th, the final event of the SEABAT project was held, where the important results of the project were presented.

After four years of development, they presented a modular and hybrid system in which the batteries and the converter are integrated for fully electric ships that represents a major advance in the electrification and decarbonization of the maritime transport sector. The event featured a demonstration of the largest and most powerful hybrid battery system built to date, the European Commission confirmed.
