The Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences has opened the call for schools to participate in the Wikikasi project
In the Wikikasi project, learning situations will be designed to practice Wikipedia and digital skills, and the participating schools will implement pilot projects in Compulsory Secondary Education. The project will continue through the 2026-2027 academic year.
In this project, schools will implement learning situations for Compulsory Secondary Education students to work on their digital competence. For this purpose, the participating schools will work on various topics based on the tools provided by Basque Wikipedia. The students’ tasks will be divided into three main groups: selecting information sources, structuring information, and creating content.
Thus, the Wikikasi project will focus on two digital skills: students will work on searching for and selecting information, and on creating content.
The aim of the Wikikasi project is to implement the learning situations in various schools and analyze whether Wikipedia is a useful didactic tool for developing students’ digital competence, taking it into account that it is a collaborative tool. The Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University launched this project and is working on it in collaboration with the Basque Wikipedians’ Cultural Association (Euskal Wikilarien Kultur Elkartea) (EWKE) and the Talaios cooperative. The Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences will be responsible for the research work and will collect data from both students and teachers.
To participate in Wikikasi or ask questions about it, schools can contact project coordinator Jokin Molinero.
