On June 11, the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University and the Aretxabaleta City Council signed a collaboration agreement on Mondragon University’s Aretxabaleta campus. With this new agreement, both institutions have expressed their willingness to carry out projects that can benefit both the Aretxabaleta City Council and the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University. In this regard, as before, the two parties will collaborate in the exchange of experiences and resources.

An example of this collaboration is IdeiEnea, the space that Mondragon University is building next to the Aretxabaleta campus building. This ambitious project has two main objectives: first, to promote experimentation and innovation in the Basque communication ecosystem through mentoring and assistance for entrepreneurs, among other things, and second, to offer companies and institutions talent, knowledge and advice in the field of communication. In short, this project will promote the creation of new opportunities and collaboration among the agents of the ecosystem that make up the communication sector for greater social impact. To respond to these objectives, the new building will have a co-working space in which to carry out entrepreneurship projects, among other things. It will also have an assembly hall, and the Aretxabaleta City Council will have the option of using this space for cultural events. Likewise, as has been done previously, the campus library will be open to Aretxabaleta residents. Mondragon University has announced that it will host an open house to present the spaces to the public once construction has been completed.

Nagore Ipiña, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University, emphasized that for the Faculty, the Aretxabaleta City Council is a key agent and an example of this is the signing of the new agreement. “This will allow us to continue strengthening relationships with the people of Aretxabaleta and the community,” added the dean.

For his part, Aretxabaleta Mayor Gari Iturbe reaffirmed the idea of continuing to collaborate with the university. In the words of the mayor, “the relationship with the University is essential for us and we want to strengthen it.”
