Students of Industrial Design Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea obtain three Accésits and the special prize of the public in the National Awards of Packaging and Embassy.
The competition aims to promote innovation, design and sustainability in the packaging and embassy sector, strengthening the link between the business and university worlds. In this edition, 636 students from 25 schools participated.
Food packaging that can be reused and refilled, monomaterial packaging solutions for the 'take away' market as well as innovative intelligent packaging systems for the safe delivery of medicines from hospitals to patients with drones are some of the winning proposals of the XIV edition of the National Packaging Awards, which held its awards ceremony in Valencia with the attendance of more than 200 students and professionals.
These awards are an initiative of the Packaging Innovation Cluster and seek to establish a point of connection between design students and companies in the sector. In this edition 636 students from 25 educational centers have participated and the students of the Degree in Industrial Design Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea have obtained several awards.
Mono-material packaging for Take-away.
Mondragon Unibertsitatea has obtained two second prizes in the challenge of the company Hinojosa, which proposed to the students to redesign take-away packaging with paper or cardboard packaging and using as few elements as possible.
The first runner-up was "Petite" by Enara Lopez, Uxue Olariaga and Maiana Alzuguren. This project consists of a packaging that is reduced as the product is consumed.
The second runner-up prize went to Haizea Azua Zarraga, Haizea Aranbarri and Maite Txakartegi with their idea "We don't play with food". This innovative proposal is a packaging for fast food that becomes a game of "who is who".

Meanwhile, the third runner-up of Mondragon Unibertsitatea has been thanks to the project "Magma" by Natale Armendariz, Maider Armentia, Oier Bengoetxea and Itziar Sanchez, in the challenge of ITC Packaging. This company has proposed to the students to create a reusable packaging for food.
“Magma" is a protein canister with an attractive ergonomic and stackable design, ensuring sustainability as well as convenience in its distribution.

Finally, as a novelty of this edition, a special prize chosen by the audience was awarded to Natale Armendariz, Maider Armentia, Oier Bengoetxea and Itziar Sanchez from Mondragon Unibertsitatea for their project "Magma" for ITC Packaging.
About the Awards
The Packaging Innovation Cluster organized these National Awards for the first time in 2009 with the aim of promoting innovation, design and sustainability in the sector, strengthening the link between the business and academic worlds.
In the twelve previous editions, more than 3,000 students have submitted their proposals in response to the challenges posed by more than 65 packaging manufacturing or user companies that have collaborated in these awards.
