COGITI Gipuzkoa organises an annual collegiate ceremony in which the best End-of-Course Projects are awarded.
The award ceremony of the 15th Félix Sopelana Memorial took place at the Kursaal Palace on 8 June. Iñigo Rodriguez Bojajo and Laura Axpe Valle, students of the Higher Polytechnic School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, stood out by being honoured with the first two awards.
The award for the best End-of-Course project went to Iñigo Rodiguez, student of the Degree in Ecotechnologies in Industrial Processes Engineering, for the project “Development of a cryogenic cooling system for CoCr alloy turning”. The study developed under the mentoring of Aritz Esnaola and the guidance of Pairat Tangpornprase was carried out jointly between Chulalongkorn University and the Higher Polytechnic School during Rodriguez’s training stay abroad.
The second award given during the ceremony was also for a student of the Higher Polytechnic School, namely Laura Axpe, student of the Degree in Mechanical Engineering. The study developed under the supervision of Ibai Ulacia was carried out at the Polytechnic School of Mondragon and was entitled “Development of a methodology to determine the friction torque of preloaded spindles by means of simplified tests”.
A conference to enjoy engineering
COGITI Gipuzkoa (the engineering school of the province) holds an annual collegiate ceremony that, in addition to awarding the best End-of-Course projects, celebrates the closing of the professional course. Thus, at the collegiate ceremony of 2019, a tribute was paid to the engineering graduates who completed 25 years of profession (class of 1994), including a special award ceremony. Finally, the engineering graduates celebrating their 50th professional anniversary (class of 1969) were also acknowledged, being awarded their respective diplomas
