The third-year students of the degree in Eco-technology in Industrial Processes Engineering visited the Zumaia plant of the multinational company GKN Driveline, where they had the opportunity to see how some automotive elements such as nipples and spindles are produced. This visit helped them learn more about the activity of the company, as well as have a first-hand view of the projects that are carried out in Zumaia and the equipment they have.

GKN Driveline has 46 production plants distributed in 22 countries where they develop, manufacture and supply a wide variety of products and systems to automobile manufacturers. The Zumaia plant has a staff of 400 people and specialises in the manufacture of components for transmission. In addition, the plant is firmly committed to implementing Industry 4.0 concepts in its projects.

The students were able to align the academic knowledge acquired in the second semester with a real working environment. The subjects studied in this semester were quality engineering, electronics and instrumentation, advanced industrial automation and environmental optimisation of processes in machining and forming specialities.
