HAU is a Design Contest of Traditional Basque Objects. The objective of this contest is to renew a traditional object of the Basque culture and in this sixth edition the selected object has been the cradle.
KABI and SAMUR have been the projects presented by Industrial Design Engineering students from Mondragon Unibertsitatea that have been selected in the HAU 2023 competition.
The competition seeks to update and renew different traditional objects and this year the cradle has been the chosen target. According to the jury, the KABI project presented by Jon Aguirrebeitia, Itziar Sanchez, Irati Etxabe y Sergio Munilla , combines the sensitivity of the functional and formal aspects of the object and complements it with sustainable aspects and innovations that give it a contemporary air. On the other hand, the SAMUR project, developed by students Idoia Baztarrika, Sandra Hermosa and Maialen Laucirica has also been selected as one of the finalists.
Mondragon Unibertsitatea encourages engineering students to find solutions to the challenges of companies and society, so the group of teachers of the degree in industrial design usually encourages students to participate in this type of competitions. Zorionak talde, lan polita!
The exhibition with the best projects submitted to the competition will be on display at the San Telmo Museum until the end of September.
