Description
Despite the importance and need for University-Business Cooperation (UBC), the studies carried out so far show that the levels of cooperation in European companies are very low, partly due to the multiple barriers that companies and universities alike find when cooperating. Therefore, the research that lays the foundations about this cooperative relationship is essential, as it leads to the generation of the necessary knowledge for the development and implementation of the various actions and programmes that manage to reduce the barriers encountered and promote the cooperation.
Under this framework, this project seeks to carry out a descriptive analysis of the state of the UBC. This analysis reflects the motivations, facilitating elements and barriers encountered by Basque companies when cooperating, the different types of UBC activities that they carry out, and the context in which cooperation occurs. Specifically, the study shows three different assessments, considered of great interest to MONDRAGON:
- The status of the UBC in the Basque regions where the School of Engineering of Higher Polytechnic School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea (MU-EPS) is located: Alto Deba, Goierri, San Sebastián, and Greater Bilbao;
- The status of the UBC in Basque cooperative companies;
- And the status of the UBC in manufacturing companies that direct their business activity to the healthcare sector, a young economic sector in growth.
