The student Judith Zubia receives the CAF-Elhuyar prize for the best popular science article.
Zubia is currently studying the University Master's Degree in Biomedical Technologies at Mondragon University and through the dual programme he combines his studies by collaborating with the Surface Technologies research group.
The aim of the CAF-Elhuyar Awards is to promote, reward and recognise the dissemination, journalism and social inclusion in Basque of scientific and technological research and topics. In the 2023 edition, it was a student from Mondragon Unibertsitatea who received the award in the category of the best general informative article. She is Judith Zubia, a student on the Master's Degree in Biomedical Technologies, a student who also collaborates with the Surface Technologies research group through the university's dual programme.
Zubia submitted the article Garena egiten gaituena, egiten duguna idazteko to the competition, a work that addresses the issue of digital data storage and explains the problem and a possible solution. The jury, made up of experts in the fields of science, technology, art and journalism, highlighted the topicality of the subject and the fact that it has been presented in a clear and understandable way, with the help of images taken by the author herself.
The prize received by Zubia consists of €2,000, a sculpture and a year's subscription to Elhuyar magazine.
