Project to enhance the employability of workers of the future

The main objective of the project is to strengthen employability and the role of the lifelong learning system in Gipuzkoa. The project is based on the idea that education in employability begins before labor insertion and includes lifelong learning, given the need for the development of key and cross-curricular skills and an understanding of the context brought about by the transitions we are experiencing.

First, the project will design a workshop to strengthen the employability of future workers by analyzing international experiences based on two core ideas: first, the workshop will help people to work on key skills, flexibility, commitment, learning, active citizenship and the orientation of workers of the immediate future; and second, it will take into account the fact that various transitions are bringing about a different scenario in the territory.

The ‘GipuzkoHarrok’ competition

Led by researchers from the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences, the Project to enhance the employability of workers of the future is a practical project rather than simply a theoretical or design project. Therefore, in addition to the workshop, various activities are being organized in schools. Among these activities, the “GipuzkoHarrok” video competition stands out. In the competition, as mentioned, the participants will do research and reflect the Gipuzkoa of the future in short audiovisual works. The awards ceremony of the “GipuzkoHarrok” competition will take place on June 22 on the Eskoriatza campus of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University.

Seven competitive projects in Gipuzkoa

This academic year, the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University has been awarded seven competitive projects in a call sponsored by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. These projects, which are of different durations and involve different collaborators, will address the various areas of knowledge that we deal with in the Faculty, such as STEM issues, educational innovation, governance, and intercooperation. The Faculty will lead five of these projects and will participate as a collaborator in two.

The Project to enhance the employability of workers of the future and the “GipuzkoHarrok” competition are part of the Eragin project on which Faculty researchers are working. In recent years, the Eragin project has been analyzing the personal skills necessary for present and future employment, as well as strategies to promote those skills.
